Depends on what you are looking for - but a good starting point would be "A Time for Trumpets" by Charles Macdonald.

I am also a huge fan of the "After the Battle" series, so if you have $50, you may want to pick that one up too. Lots of detail, and lots of photographs - in fact, I can recommend all of the After the Battle books that I've read so far, including Market Garden, Fall of the West, and the Bulge.

thanks Jake - I found "A Time for Trumpets" but could not find anything on "After The Battle" series books. (checked Amazon) Unsure where else to try. lots of 'Bulge' books though...

Sorry - After the Battle is the publisher. The title is "Battle of the Bulge Then and Now"

A Time for Trumpets is absolutely the best book on the Bulge I've ever read. And I've read most of what's available in English. For a lower level, more personal account I would also recommend "Company Commander" by the same author, Charles MacDonald.

Another good voice for a specialist read is "those Damned Engineers"
